And yet in the other branch of this thread I've been reading that
ldconfig just updates a cache that the linker will work without anyway.

So couldn't we just run ldconfig at the end; stuff run in postinst will
miss the cache but I'll bet that will still be faster than repeatedly
running ldconfig.
