So we have three bugs which you claim to have fixed in the latest
package, but you don't know, in fact, whether they were fixed.  That
means should not have done what you in fact did: which is to keep
track of bugs and only close them when they are closed.

This is perhaps THE most important job for a Debian maintainer to do.
If you can't do it, you shouldn't be maintaining such an important
package.

It is the job of the Debian maintainer to submit bug reports upstream,
and, when a new version comes out, to verify which Debian BTS bugs
have been fixed and which have not, and only close the ones the Debian
maintainer can verify are fixed.

Unless I hear a raft of objections, I will issue re-opening BTS
commands on Monday.
