Typing:
# update-alternatives --config java
# update-alternatives --config jre
# update-alternatives --config appletviewer
# update-alternatives --config jar
# update-alternatives --config javakey
# update-alternatives --config javac
# update-alternatives --config jdb
# update-alternatives --config jdoc
.
.
.
etc. etc.
after you've just tried out another jdk/jre is a bit of a pain.
update-alternatives-jdk1.1 does all this for you.
You get the idea :)
