Are you sure that apt knew about all of your packages?  I recommend
having the dummy sawmill which only depends on sawfish; I've had the
same problem with fvwm and that's the only solution that I know of for
the time being.

Sounds fine.  You may, though, want to put in programs, manpages
etc. in the sawmill package called sawfish, sawfish.1 or whatever
which simply tell the user that the filenames have changed, then
remove them for woody+1.
