The only other thing I know of is that mount uses it to keep track of
which loopback device is attached to which filesystem. eg:
/free/slink1.iso /free/slink1 iso9660 ro,loop=/dev/loop0 0 0
/free/slink2.iso /free/slink2 iso9660 ro,loop=/dev/loop1 0 0
Can't exactly remember, but something goes wrong with this
when you link mtab to /proc/mounts.
