Hmm. I just ITPed this (also as not-yet-a-developer), but you appear to
have beaten me to it time-wise, which is a bit of a shame as I'm rather
keen on music notation systems. :( Are you particularly keen on this? If
so, you might want the man page I've written, if not I'll gladly do it.

The version currently in CVS is rather better; in particular, the
rather dodgy beaming code which was causing random exceptions when you
inserted multiple rests has been fixed. They appear to be improving it
extremely quickly.
