I thought that *configuration* files should be put into /etc/gs
(/etc/ghostscript?), no?

We could even create packages that USE /usr/local/ dirs while NEITHER
*creating* nor *removing* them --- just document them!  :-)

I don't care too much, but creating empty directories on the off-chance
that someone will put something in them is contrary to my aesthetics.
