Columbia has been operating under a bizarre world view for a long time
about Kermit. They are convinced of several facts that are manifestly
not true. Perhaps nobody knew better back when Kermit was new (at
least 20 years ago IIRC) but they have apparently not realized that
the world of software licensing has moved on. Their goals are
reasonable, but their persistence in pursuing obnoxious means of
achieving them can only be explained as ignorance or maliciousness.
