They've just announced the official release of C-Kermit 7.0,
and a few days ago the release of G-Kermit (Gnu-Kermit), a stripped
down version with just file transfer capabilities.
They don't have Debian binary builds of either listed
on the Kermit web site (but they do for Redhat and
Slackware, and *BSD).  I feel Debian ought to be represented there also, so unless someone can tell why
it's not needed, I'll try to put together what I can
for their directories of binary builds, unless someone else
can do a better job.  Still getting over the last 
vestiges of the Flu, and personal things may get a bit
tumultuous in a few weeks....
