I think I already said this, but I don't mind saying it again. If we are going to replace /etc/init.d/network with a script that parses one or more config-files to setup the network, it has to be able to handle: * multiple network cards * IP aliases * DHCP and BOOTP * static routes * preferably also things like arcnet Anything less will mean people would still need to setup things manually. Also note a frontend for both console and X can be easily created by switching between whiptail and gdialog (if I remembered the name correctly; it seems to be a GTK whiptail-clone).
