I thought both would unblock. It doesn't seem to be consistent though.

I get logged out if I do it on the console, too. Nifty!

It seems OK if I run the readers in a separate window to
the writers.

As to potato specific: it happens to me on slink tcsh too.

Looks OK on tcsh (slightly newer) on a Solaris system I just tested.
