Bug#52280: general: exim doesn't allow for alternative inetd's in package installation
Package: general
Version: 19991129
Severity: normal
When using an alternate inetd such as xinetd or rlinetd, exim still alters
/etc/inetd.conf, meaning that when I run rlinetd and exim in standalone
mode, /etc/init.d/exim start fails since the grep for ^smtp in
/etc/inetd.conf is successful. It only succeeds if the smtp line is
deleted or commented out from /etc/inetd.conf.
Suggested fix: Rather than grepping for ^smtp in /etc/inetd.conf each time
/etc/init.d/exim is run, maybe have the exim installation script ask
whether to run exim in standalone mode or not, and write a configuration
value somewhere to be read by /etc/init.d/exim later on...
