Obviousely debconf was cousing the problem because I've got warnings
about old debconf in the install process.

Do you think that my serious problems with auctex also were caused
by debconf? I didn't reported it yet but I was completely unable
to install auctex as well as to purge it (... is in a really bad
state ...) I had to remove all auctex files and edit the database
by hand to get rid of the package :-(. (I could live without it
for one or two weeks, but I hope this problem could be solved soon.)

I'm really unsure if I should file a bug report against auctex or
debconf.

Kind regards

         Andreas.
