Just one thing to consider: the last versions of pppd is have used logged in
debug mode the dial-in passwords in clear text. So if you really change that to
world-readable I suggest that you also patch pppd to a more reasonable behavior
(i.e. not write any passwords in clear text to logfiles).


Even the thought that a ship was waiting to take him back to Earth
did not wipe out the sense of loss he felt at that moment.
