You may want to wait some days before the new perl(s) are uploaded to
potato. But you can begin to package it by following the new
perl policy :

The perl-policy is packaged in perl-5.00X-doc in the experimental
packages you can find here :
ftp://ftp.daft.com/pub/debian/experimental
And you may want to subscribe to debian-perl if not already done to be in
touch with most of the other maintainers of perl modules.
