pb with imp and shadow passwds

Hello.

I have a problem concerning imp (a webmail server...
http://www.horde.org) and the shadow passwds.

I have made my own packages :
- apache
- php3
- php3-imap
- horde-core
- imp
because I want to use them on a slink without having to upgrade to
unstable libc6.

I have installed these packages on 2 partitions of machine (each using
shadow password).
In one partition, it's working well, on the second, it can't work if I
don't put the crypted password from the shadow file to the passwd file.

So, what's the problem ?
I don't understand...

These softs were compile using the -lcrypt option.
I have checked the configuration of all of them, they are the same, idem
for apache.

If someone could help me...
