Bug#39818: samba-common: Upgrading Samba from the Slink version (fwd)
Hi!
Can anyone help me to fix this bug? Is it my fault or should re-assign
the bug to something else (dpkg, for example)? Is he suggested fix the
right way to do it?
Thanks!

Subject: Bug#39818: samba-common: Upgrading Samba from the Slink version

To: submit@bugs.debian.org
X-Mailer: bug 3.2.2
Date: Sun, 20 Jun 1999 15:26:39 -0400
Package: samba-common
Version: N/A
Severity: normal
Currently, Samba will not cleanly upgrade from the Slink version, at least
not on the first run. The problem is that some files were split off into
samba-common, but there's no way for dpkg to know that it should unpack the
new samba *before* the new samba-common. This results in errors of 'trying
to overwrite...' when attempting to unpack samba-common and forces the user
to rerun the install several times (or fix it by hand :-) ) I believe that
the correct solution is for samba-common to Conflict: with older versions of
Samba.
