Bug#38908: Apparently random system freeze

Well, I had a similar problem (complete freeze up) with no response to
Ctrl-Alt-Del when my network card was not correctly connected to the network.
It happened in two cases.  The first case was the 10Base-2 network (BNC
connector was used) and the terminator just disappeared from one of the ends.
The second case was the 10Base-T network (TP connector was used) two (!)
computers was connected via cross-over cable, and whenever the second computer
got turned off my computer just froze up.

Please check syslog output, if you have something like "eth0: Tx probs" or
something alike, this is the case.
