It is enough if he responds positively to this question:

"You must tell me will you allow redistribution and use in source
and binary forms, with or without modification, as long as your
name is clearly mentioned, and you're not blamed for bugs that
ain't yours?"

After he agrees, tell him to write "Licenced under GNU GPL v2" in the
documentation of the program :)
