the only benefit i can see is that it would remove the likes of you.
alas, even a desirable end like that isn't worth the price of closing
the list to non-developers.
some non-developers have worthwhile contributions to make and not all
off-topic stuff comes from non-developers. in fact, most off-topic stuff
comes from developers who use this list for general debian-related
discussion as well as debian development discussion.
i don't think there's any real solution except for kill-files and just
skimming the threads to find the interesting stuff - if the thread isn't
interesting, ignore it or delete it.
