Exactly. Here's my point. Your "clued developer" is the one who is
hitting reply-to and not trimming. In fact, both you and Ben, with PGP keys
in the developer ring and thus, I assume, a "clued developer", did a
reply-to-all and didn't trim.

It will require a concious intervention in the person's normal routine.
Right, well, right now people aren't adhering to the no CCs rule, so again,
I ask you, what makes you think this will be any different when both you and
Ben (and who knows how many others) don't adhere to the first one?

Meanwhile, if reply-to were set it would reduce CC traffic *AND* most
*MODERN* software, when faced with a repl-to which differs from the FROM
field will prompt the user as to which s/he wants to reply to. This forces
the decision instead of relying on the person to remember to make the choice
which, clearly, has been demonstrated as not being something that people are
willing to do.

I do have control over my headers. In fact, I am one of the few people
that I know on this list that does a reply-to-all and actually *TRIMS*
headers. I'm also one of the people that dislikes getting CCs to list mail
and find it extremely annoying. I'm also one to take discussions private.
I've gone so quite a few times here as well as on other mailing lists. I
just don't see people who can't even trim headers making the decision to
move a discussion to private without some prompting.
