I second this suggestion.
Further, I ask that the flattening not be done all at once. Instead,
stage it by section:
day 1: */binary-*/{admin,base,comm}
day 2: */binary-*/devel
day 3: */binary-*/{doc,editors,electronics}
...
That way, the mirrors don't have to catch up on everything in one day.
You could stage them by architecture instead, but then you would get a
big hit on "i386 day".
