treetool is a very common program in biology to visualize and manipulate trees (like phylogenetic trees). No technical problem, it works already. I have a problem with non-8bpp displays but a fix exists. Depends only on free libraries but itself non-free. The author wants to put it under the GPL but he is waiting for the advice of his University, who sponsored it.
