Bug#33349: samba: Perl catastrophe when upgrading Samba.. (fwd)

Guys,

I got this bug report and I don't beleive it has anything to do with
my Samba package. However, the user says that other packages have had
this problem too and got fixed. I haven't seen anything like this
before so I thought it was a good idea to ask here.

Any comments or suggestions?

peloy.-

Subject: Bug#33349: samba: Perl catastrophe when upgrading Samba..
Date: Sat, 13 Feb 1999 19:24:04 -0500 (EST)
From: <daniel@keeney180-203.keeney.brown.edu>
To: submit@bugs.debian.org
X-Mailer: bug 3.1.7

Package: samba
Version: 2.0.2-1

For several versions now, Samba upgrades/installs always fail the first time
I attempt with a slew of:

Can't locate DebianNet.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/i386-linux/5.005 /usr/lib/perl5/5.005 /usr/local/lib/site_perl/i386-linux /usr/local/lib/site_perl .) at /usr/sbin/update-inetd line 23.

There is a 'simple' fix for this; I just have to do
'setenv PERL5LIB /usr/lib/perl5' (or 'export PERL5LIB=/usr/lib/perl5' for bash)
before upgrading Samba. However, the only reason I know to do this is because
I chased it down last year in a bug report for another package. Not sure what
the 'correct' fix in the install scripts is but other packages have had this
problem and fixed it..maybe you could look at one of their control sections?
Sorry, I don't remember any specific ones at the moment..
