Fix libc6's dependencies to Conflicts: with the affected versions of
libstdc++2.8, libstdc++2.9 (and the guile lib; libguile1.3?), rather than
with versions of dpkg that had problems.
In my experience, dpkg 1.4.0.31 works fine again when loaded against a set
of fixed libraries. (In the previous libc6, the Conflicts: line was broken,
so I became guinea pig for this)
As for a work-around, unpack dpkg using dpkg-deb to a temp dir, test its
dselect there, and if it works, install it with appropriate --force.
