Nearly fixed. I am in contact with the upstream author of jadetex and
multicol.sty (the non-free file from tetex-base).
Unfortunately, the multicol.sty author is not unhappy at all about the
non-commercial-without-license-fee clause in his license :) Fortunately,
multicol.sty is not crucial for jadetex, and can be ignored if it is not
there (maybe I make a jadetex and jadetex-nonfree later). I am happy that
the jadetex author is willing to leave multicol.sty an optional part (as he
likes free software more).
Long text, short meaning: If everything else fails, I will upload a patched
version soon. JadeTex can and will remain in Debian. There is no need to
change the override file.
