If you want a Gnome UI, I think it would be fairly quick and easy once the
backend is done. For example, if you have a PackageList object or
equivalent, which allows iterating over the list and knows how to do hard
parts like sort itself.  Also functions like get_package_info,
perform_package_search, etc. Basically if the meat of every menu item is
done (a function that takes the info from the dialog or menu and does the
right thing), I can make you some Gnome chrome in a hurry since I already
know those libraries very well. It should be no big deal, based on your
design document. 

However, an Xlib-only UI or custom widget set is too masochistic for me,
and I don't have time to implement the meaty bits, so I won't volunteer
for that.
