I do that fine with mutt: I simply tell mutt to you multiple mailboxes,
one for each account.

Mutt can show you a list of all defined mailboxes and will flag each one
that has new mail in them. It can also only show the boxes with new mail.
Isn't that good enough?

Ask the mutt developers for IMAP support, they already have POP in there.

(No, I don't think mutt is perfect. But it can do way more then I need
and does 99% of what I want a mailreader to do. So I'm quite happy)
