Fame is something that is achieved orthogonally to copyright issues, in the
free software community at least.
i was asking because of some package i wanted to package, but the author is using his universityies standard license, which is ok but only permit modified works to be distributed in patch form, and no binaries of modified works.
the argument behind it is that they don't want people to use it without giving proper credit to them, which don't seem guaranted when you can distribute binaries. and the option to distriobute also the source of it
don't seem to be enough credit for them. (i think the y think rightly that if you have a binary of it, you mostly not look at the source.
This is the universitarian world , who is quite different from the Free software world and the big bussiness world.
