bootup problem with the boot images

I asked on debian-user already, but now it seems I've got
a bigger problem.

We've a Pentium II Board with an onboard Adaptec 7880.
On boot it hangs on the "Downloading sequence code... 416
instructions loaded".

Now with other distribution (SuSE Linux, Germany) there's
an aic7xxx older/ newer and standard.

What can I do to fix this problem? Any idea, any image to
change? Should I compile a zImage and stuff it somewhere
(means loading with loadlin)??

Any incompatibility known? Any hints?

Alexander
