When I have asked these questions of NASA, (from their web site data) I
was given a longwinded legal document which seemed to say that the only
thing you could not do was use the name of NASA in any advertising
context, which seems, from the longwinded nature of the document, to
include just about everything.

It seems that if you never mention NASA you can use them, but YMMV.
