RH packages that have been pentium optimized by egcs/pgcc also carry the
i586 in them. The kernel follows a similar track. It is a standard
naming convention.
I do not see the point in recompiling everything. But the obvious CPU
crunchers would be good targets. The DES crackers gained considerable
speed increasdes after pentium optimization I am told.
What are you using to to show the speed ups? I have a Cyrix 150+ and
would like to try and show if it works for Cyrixs or not.
