Are you saying you think the sp package currently violates policy or
document best practices?  Because it does not.

BTW, the sp package has names like 'sp_1.3-1.1-6_i386.deb'.  This is
because sp is built form jade sources (v 1.1) but has it's own version
number (v 1.3).  Currently, as per policy etc, this is considered
upstream version number 1.3-1.1 and debian revision 6.  All is well in
my world, but I can see why people would get confused.

If you *would* like to rule out more complex numberings like what I
did for sp, (a) why?, and (b) how to deal with cases like what I
stated here.  

Anyhow, I've set Followups-To to the policy group.
