Right.  That as well.

Since rsyncd accepts hosts allow/deny rules, va and master could run it 
without giving anyone but the first tier mirrors access.

Using rsync as a daemon has two advantages over using ssh+rsync:

  1) the data is transfered more rapidly, and with less CPU load, because
     there is no encryption.

  2) you don't need to set up an ssh key on the mirror for the mirroring job.
     This is good, because that key could be used to gain unauthorised access
     to master or va if it fell into the wrong hands.
