can't install dump_0.4b4-6.deb, overlaps manpage rmt.8.gz in cpio
This computer (lear35) is running Debian-2.0B (hamm), up to date as of
today.
When I try to install the newly updated dump package,
dump_0.4b4-6.deb, this is what happens:
BTW, dpkg is version 1.4.0.21, cpio is version 2.4.2-14.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Script started on Fri Apr 3 17:44:39 1998
root@lear35:/tmp# dpkg -i dump_0.4b4-6.deb
Selecting previously deselected package dump.
(Reading database ... 33173 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace dump 0.4b4-4 (using dump_0.4b4-6.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement dump ...
dpkg: error processing dump_0.4b4-6.deb (--install):
trying to overwrite `/usr/man/man8/rmt.8.gz', which is also in package cpio
[messaged from dump's postinst script deleted]
Errors were encountered while processing:
dump_0.4b4-6.deb
root@lear35:/tmp# exit
exit

Bug? Recommended workaround? I suppose I could just delete rmt.8.gz
and run it again...
