Proposal to package axw3 web proxy for AX25
G'day All,
The great ax25-utils in stable debate notwithstanding...
I am proposing to package axw3. This program allows hamradio users to
make a plain vanilla ax25 connection to a Linux host and then surf the
web from that point.
Here's the release announcement.
axw3 is both a HTTP proxy server and an AX25 gateway. It allows
your browser to fetch web pages through a pure AX25 connection,
avoiding IP and TCP headers, name lookups and TCP retransmission,
therefore saving bandwidth.
In order to use axw3 you will need ax25-utils. To improve
reliability, a patched version of call(1) is recommended. Patches
for ax25-utils-2.0.12c are provided within axw3 distribution
file.
