Because we can then say "Ok, people, no use posting any more votes, the  
result is already clear". That's in the proposed constitution, remember?

Especially in case of more urgent votings, this is great to have, but it  
needs immediate tallying. And of course, if you do it by script anyway,  
it's no problem.

Also, you could reveal how many votes there are (instead of what those  
votes are), so we can say "hurry up and vote and let's get this over with"  
:-)
