acroread 3.0-1 problems

I have just installed acrobat reader from hamm (3.0-1) but it does not
work. Starting it gives me:

    baguette:~/Incoming> acroread
    Warning: locale not supported by C library, locale unchanged
    Warning: locale not supported by Xlib, locale set to C
    Warning: X locale modifiers not supported, using default
    Fatal System Error: Raise at top of Exception Stack
    Abort

Is this a known problem?
