dpkg-source error

I'm trying to fix a few bugs in my rosegarden package. Downloaded
rosegarden_2.1-3.{dsc,diff.gz} and rosegarden_2.1.orig.tar.gz and tried to
run 'dpkg-source -x rosegarden_2.1-3.dsc' ... got an error saying that the
filesize of the .diff.gz was wrong. Indeed, it doesn't match what's in
the .dsc file ... shouldn't this have been rejected by the install
scripts? And what can I do to fix it?
