ARGHH gnats-3.104_2 DISASTER!!

I have just halfway fried my system, trying to run /usr/lib/gnats/check-categories
while standing in that directory. At the very least, emacs is now unable to find its
startup files, but lord knows how extensive the damage is.

I will start investigating to see what went wrong, but this is to alert people that
there is a very severe problem with that script.
