That was me.  They're happy with 'HELO qwerty.blorg', though.  They just
answer by telling me my 'real' name and IP.

My thinking exactly.

I suspect it of being a default feature acquired when they upgraded
sendmail (i'm guessing here).

BrightNet is broken.  I have no other choices, though, and many others are
in the same boat.  Besides, we're sure to hear "it works with Windows!".

I'm tempted to hack smail and add a 'mail_from' variable.
