Hi, I've received a request for base@packages.debian.org. I have little problems creating it because a) There is no .dsc files that has a line like Binary: base or Source: base included and b) There is no base_*.deb BUT: On some systems one may find this package: troi!joey(ttypa):/tmp> dpkg -s base Package: base Essential: yes Status: install ok installed Priority: required Section: base Maintainer: Bruce Perens <Bruce@Pixar.com> Version: 1.1.0-13 Replaces: miscutils Conffiles: /dev/MAKEDEV 55bea3c2f2fb893995b431e5f69190cd /etc/adjtime b7920456f21d52fd516f7ff390112d1d /etc/group 6a2b05fa4a513997e521bc03cb26ae44 /etc/host.conf a61b9f6548d337c1cc1e5a4de39f7b7f /etc/issue 3488b71d436c67a12d80d5dea77bb0f2 /etc/motd 03465202ebeafb7ea39663f4bf055309 /etc/passwd 785647694522546dba95365b191cee98 /root/.bash_profile f885bce730eac7717e6610468b52a500 /root/.bashrc 118f882acfaf472e6a352b1baaf5db87 Description: Debian Base System Miscellaneous Files While I get this on other systems: va!joey(ttyp0):~> dpkg -s base dPackage `base' is not installed and no info is available. Use dpkg --info (= dpkg-deb --info) to examine archive files, and dpkg --contents (= dpkg-deb --contents) to list their contents. The question is, who is responsible for this package and to which addresses should base@packages.debian.org bounce the mail? Regards, Joey Postmaster packages.debian.org -- / Martin Schulze http://home.pages.de/~joey/ / Linux - the choice of a GNU generation joey@linux.de /
