You misunderstood me (I was probably unclear). What I wanted to express was:
You write a software which should be usable (and possibly linked) both in the
BSD- and the GPL-world. So, you want to have 1) either a BSD-style
license applied, or 2) the GPL applied; but the user should have the
chance to choose one or another (this guarantees that both worlds will pick up
your changes).
You can solve this by writing:
This software is licensed under the terms of
either under
[BSD license paragraphs 1...3]
or
[GPL]

PS: The original argument was not invented by me, I simply repeated what I
heard about the compatibility of GPL- and BSD licensing. There are
probably more authorative sources than me; I only wanted to correct the
opinion that both licenses are compatible without further thinking.
