menu's postinst does this:
killall -KILL update-menus 2> /dev/null
Let's say Joe User on the machine has written his own script called
"update-menus" (completely unrelated) and it's running while the root
user upgrades menu, bham, Joe User's script is killed for no good
reason.

Of course, but not by encouraging the use of killall.
