Have you read /usr/doc/ppp/README.debian.gz ?

You should be able to view it with:

  zless /usr/doc/ppp/README.debian.gz

or

  zcat /usr/doc/ppp/README.debian.gz | more

To read man pages, for pon say, run:

  man pon
