On a machine at work today (fairly fresh install, no locales or libc6
2.05c, but previous version of libc6), man suddenly stopped working and
segfaulted (in some kind of search IIRC). I think I had just used tkman
(with a .tkman file with the wrong home directory in it).
I reinstalled the man-db and it started working again. Maybe it was a
corrupt database like you suggested.
