	On reflection this does not fall under deities purview. Deity
 may not be used to install or deinstall packages, and if deity is the
 only mechanism then the audit trail would be lost. Better no audit
 trail than a false audit trail ;-(

	The correct entity to implement this behaviour in is dpkg;
 since that is ultimately the final authority for package
 manipulation. 

	dpkg, then, when rewriting the status file, should add the
 time stamps as needed, to the package descriptions (it needs to
 modify the descriptio anyway to reflect the current operation).
