we know this. solutions :
a) a problem ! run away : very, very fast !
b) try to fix it. do you think, that suse, delix lst and redhat are
happy with getting tons of bug report from users who cross installed
packages ? i don't think so, so we can talk to them about more
standards.

and don't forget : this is not a new problem.
with alian we have the same problem with cross installing.
and in the area before rpm and deb, people cross installed tgz packages
and had the same problems. and in the area before binary packages,
people compiled and installed source and had the same problem (yes, i
replace sysvinit with my own compiled binary on my old slackware !).

the number of such bugreports/problems increases because there are more
and more linux users. it has nothing (or at least not soo much) to do
with rpm or deb. 

lets fix it, find standards and don't run away.
