[New-maintainer] [dumb question] Signed image?

Maybe I'm really silly,  but:

I need to apply to be a new maintainer.  The developer's manual says to
include in the request a scanned copy of id (I scanned my driver's
license into a nice jpg) and to include a fingerprint on it.  Seeing as
I'm going to eventually sign the image,  does that mean they want me to
pop open Gimp and just put text with my pgp fingerprint in a (relatively)
empty spot on the image?
