I don't know this anacron yet, but I'm pretty sure I'll want to
install it on my laptop (when I get a new HD...).

Everyone needs something like cron (or anacron). If your hardware
breaks or your software goes crazy, your logfiles will grow a lot and
fill your HD if (ana)cron does not rotate/clean them. I'm sure you can
think of other effects of not having (ana)cron.

If the man is a sysadmin, he'll find the fine manuals and read it. If
he's not, he won't even note that he has anacron instead of cron. That
is, if he had ever noted that there was something like cron on his
system.
